Macarons anyone?

Romper: Free People      Necklace: Gorjana      Shoes: Michael Kors

One of my many food weaknesses is the French Macaron. Not only are they delicious but they are so pretty and cute. So when I heard that a Ladurée had opened in Georgetown, I HAD to go. I texted Sydney (of course) and we made a plan to try it out. I threw on this new Free People romper and my fave espadrilles. The pretty pink of this romper (seeming to be my new fave color) seemed perfect for some macaron taste testing. I mostly wanted to see if Ladurée lived up to the hype, and boy... it did. I've tried my fair share of Macarons in the DC area, so I decided to make a list of my top 3 favorite spots!

1. Ladurée

And in first place...
Not only do I think they have the best Macaron, but they have the best overall experience. It really feels like you are escaping to Paris from the moment you walk in. The details are beautiful from the chandeliers all the way down to the bags. Plus you get to pick out what style box you want for your treats. As for the flavors, they had mostly the classics. Pistachio, raspberry, chocolate, vanilla, rose, etc.
I had chocolate, coffee (personal fave), and raspberry. They had the perfect crisp outside and chewy middle...DELISH. They were a tad bigger than the typical macaron and much pricier. Definitely worth it when you're looking to treat yourself.

2. Olivia Macaron

A close second...
Over the past few years, Olivia has been my go to. They have more exotic flavors ranging from Fruity Pebbles, to Mimosa, and S'mores. The macarons are on the smaller size, making them almost bite sized (dangerous for someone who loves snacking like me) and they are more affordable.
I have noticed they are more crumbly than other Macarons and aren't as chewy. But they definitely still taste good. Plus they get points for the creative flavors.

3. Paul

And finally...
Paul Macarons are definitely on the simple side. They don't have that many flavors, just the main standard flavors. These are an easy fix if you don't want to venture into the city (there are many locations) or don't want to spend your whole paycheck on these sweet pastries (it's possible). They even sell mini ones in the freezer section at many grocery stores! Paul also has tons of other food options so it's a good spot if you have some ~gasp~ anti-macaron friends.

I hope you enjoyed my (not so) expert macaron critiques! Feel free to comment or email with any macaron questions or even arguments about better spots! I'm open to trying more :)

Union Market

Denim Jacket: South Moon Under      Romper: Madewell (Similar Here)      Shoes: Madewell
Sunnies: Illesteva

This past weekend I ventured out to Union Market in DC and boy was it bloggable! From all the different food stands to the adorable pop-ups and fun walls outside, I could have stayed for hours.
I had a seriously amazing grilled cheese, Manchego Cheese with roasted tomatoes. To DIE for.

The current major pop-up shop is Salt & Sundry, one of my favorite DC stores. They have the cutest home goods, greeting cards, jewelry... it's pretty much any succulent loving, Rifle Paper obsessed shopper's heaven. They also had a smaller sister stand, Little Leaf (4th picture). They had succulents in every shape and size imaginable. They also had amazing prints and wall decor (of course I had to buy an adorable print.. keep an eye out for it on my story).

I wore an easy Madewell romper from last year (I tagged a very similar one from their current Beach line) and my go-to throw on denim jacket. I got it from South Moon Under and I love the raw hem line and the lighter wash. The perfect summer denim combo!

If you plan on going to Union Market or have any questions, feel free to leave a comment or send an email!

Happy (Belated) Father's Day

Top: Madewell (On sale)      Jeans: Free People       Shoes: Michael Kors      Choker: Madewell (Similar Here)
Necklace: GCE Jewelry

To celebrate Father's Day this past Sunday my family had a nice little dinner out by the pool. One of my brothers flew in from Austin, TX and another came in from DC for the evening (I have 3 older brothers... crazy right?).
I wore my fave new Madewell off the shoulder top (and it's super on sale now!). It super flowy and perfect for summer. I paired it with my go-to summer pair of white jeans. This pair is from Free People and they are seriously so comfortable. The rips fall perfectly at my knees which eliminates any awkward bunching or stretching at the knees when I sit. They come in 4 different colors, I highly recommend!
Enjoy this picture of my Dad and me :) xx
